The airport serves more than 85 destinations including domestic and international destinations in Europe, Asia and North America. The airport was officially opened on July 16th, 1938 and has only one terminal building. The airport was subjected to major refurbishment in the year 1999 and was upgraded with a new traffic control tower, new cargo centre and an improvised passenger terminal.
